Today, I got my score report. It is not 99 as I wished and as studied for, it is 92!
I got my score report just minutes ago, it was 222/92.
I will share you now my experience:
I am an old IMG (graduated in 2002).
did
not take step 1 (took step 2 CK first).
studied for
2 and half months for step 2 CK (full-time).
Main study source was
Kaplan and
USMLE WORLD Q BANK.
Did not watch any Kaplan video.
Cumulative score in USMLE WORLD Q BANK was
60%.
Did not take any NBME.
Did not use USMLE CD.
Did not take any other sources of Qs.
I got shocked when I saw my score, not because it is not 99, but because my performance in psychiatry (the strongest part I studied and the heaviest part in the test) was lower performance! And with star *.
If I got just borderline performance in psychiatry, I could get 99 easily. But ALHAMDOLELLAH 3LA KOL SHAY2.
As, I said before in another experience, ECFMG are mean people. I studied psychiatry very good and I loved it.
Qs in test were overall simple, easy Qs.
The problem with me in psychiatry that I only studied some drugs names (did not remember all drugs names), they give me in the test all the names I do not remember, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! I was not lucky at all at this part.
My performance in Pediatrics (the weakest point in my preparation) is high performance!
Do:
Step 1 before step 2 CK.
Study to get 99/278 not just 99/236.
Get motivation partner (not study partner), this forum was the greatest motivation for me.
Believe in yourself!
